So it turns out that when you buy property on a state owned road, the state is the only one that can put in the first “X” number of feet of your driveway. So we’ve been not so patiently waiting. Fortunately we have a very nice neighbor who has allowed us access through her property to our land. Otherwise we would have absolutely no way to get a vehicle onto the property since the entire frontage has a VERY deep swale.
Chris used the track loader to clear trees and some very old fencing. Then all we could do was wait.
We were pleasantly surprised when SC DOT showed up unannounced (they were supposed to call) to FINALLY put in the driveway and thankfully Chris was there!!! After the excavator broke down and a gaggle of new crews and mechanics showed up to address the problem, the driveway installation was underway.
SC DOT hard at work!
FINISHED!! Although we were a little disappointed that the first set of tracks across the new driveway weren’t from one of our cars, we are beyond thrilled to finally have access onto the land. NOW we can get this party started!!!
So happy for you guys! The first of many steps toward your dream!!
Thanks Sarah!! We’re so far enjoying every step of the journey!
